We are in the 2nd eclipse season of the year with a Solar Total Eclipse occurring on August 12/13 followed by a Lunar Partial Eclipse on August 28. Events that happen near eclipses take on increased importance and can work out unexpectedly. They function like energetic portals and every eclipse carries a message for the world: in Leo it points towards changes or crisis involving leaders, royalties or leadership in general. For example, a similar eclipse occurred on August 11,2018, just days before the last Australian Liberal Party leadership spill. On a personal level, those who are born around August 10 – 15, or whose personal planets are activated by the degree of the eclipse (20-degree Leo) are likely to feel its effects more intensely, often as a time of important endings and new beginnings.

Leo is a fire sign and signifies passion, the expression of our personal truth, generosity and creativity. As an archetype it represents our desire to shine as brightly as the Sun and follow our own destiny. Jupiter and Mercury are also in Leo, making this eclipse period a great opportunity for re-connecting with our authentic self and heart’s desire, exploring what is truly important to us. On the other hand, this can be a very emotionally charged and heated period during which it is essential to find constructive outlets for this additional portion of fiery energy.  Jupiter is still opposite Pluto in Aquarius by sign, highlighting the tension that exist between the individual (Leo) and the collective (Aquarius), or our human identity needs (Leo) and an impersonal era ruled by technology (Aquarius). The outer planetary alignment (the ‘basket formation’ between Jupiter, Pluto, Uranus and Neptune) is still active, making this is a time of accelerated change for the better or worse. Venus transiting her own sign Libra (from August 7 to September 11) directs these energies to relationships, diplomacy, and the building of new alliances. Still, care has to be taken as Venus in opposition to Neptune can indicate the possibility of deception and a lack of discernment.

The fiery eclipse will sweep across the Arctic, eastern Greenland, Iceland, northern Spain, and northeastern Portugal, being the first solar total eclipse since August 11, 1999 visible from mainland Europe.

The Lunar eclipse on August 28 occurs in the early degrees of Pisces opposite the Sun in Virgo and forms a close square with Uranus in Gemini. Uranus is the planet of change but also disruption and sudden awakening. Uranus has been travelling in square to the nodal axis of karma and destiny since April 27 as a planetary force of evolutionary pressure to break old forms of perception and drive the emergence of new ones. In many ways, this has intensified an overall awareness of the crossroads at which we are standing: do we continue moving forward into a future without fully understanding where it leads, or do we attempt to slow down and regain control? Pisces is the sign of imagination, spiritual wisdom and soul consciousness while Virgo at the other end is pragmatic and aims at putting the correct structures and rules into place. The true challenge seems to be how to preserve humanity amid an accelerated technological revolution (Uranus in Gemini). The Full Moon eclipse reminds us that we are embodied beings (Virgo) who have emotional and spiritual needs (Pisces), and that we are still partly in the dark of where we might be going (being eclipsed).

Aries: This is a period when tapping into your deepest creative potential can bring amazing insights and a new direction for applying your energies. Connect with your heart’s desire, because your heart is your personal GPS. With Mars, your driving energy transiting Cancer from August 12 until late September, you are reminded to proceed slowly and with caution in following your plans.

Taurus: The energies of the moment may bring endings and new beginnings to your home life and domestic relationships. Yor sense of belonging, safety, family, and emotional nourishment is being reset, opening a new chapter in how to create stability from the inside out. You may want to shed outdated family conditioning and step into a more nurturing and authentic emotional foundation.

Gemini: This eclipse cycle could bring endings and new beginnings to how you process information or interact with your immediate surroundings. You may feel inspired to enter a new study course, ultimately helping you in transforming the way you perceive reality. This is also an important period to review your deeper thought patterns and shed outdated mental conditioning.

Cancer: This eclipse cycle may trigger unresolved self-worth and security issues bringing shifts to how you earn and manage your resources on all levels. It could be a quest for having more faith in yourself. With Mars transiting Cancer from August 12 until late September, you may experience some push-pull dynamics when attempting to follow through with your plans.

Leo: The solar eclipse in your sun sign could seed endings and new beginnings. A chapter is opening, one that asks you to define yourself on your own terms rather than through the expectations or projections of others. Acknowledge your inner drive to live authentically and according to your heart’s desire without needing to overpower others.

Virgo: Your dreams might provide important clues about your soul’s needs and wishes. Surrender what you cannot control and trust that all will work out without you interfering and trying to micro-manage the details of your live. If you experience a setback in your creative projects, re-focus and find a way to re-kindle your enthusiasm.

Libra: With Venus transiting your sun sign from August 7 until September 10 relationship themes are back in focus. You could feel like needing more time for yourself and your own creative projects. Tension might be building during the 2^nd part of the month when freedom and commitment may need to be re-negotiated. Stay connected with your inner core instead of trying to please others.

Scorpio: Align your inner reality with your outer role in the world. Being noticed for who you are is essential but simultaneously can strengthen old fears of being exposed. Believing in yourself and trusting in your innate resourcefulness is the key to achieving your goals.  On the other hand, you might want to rethink and re-organise some of your current projects.

Sagittarius: This eclipse cycle may bring profound shifts to how you seek meaning, understand truth, and form your perspective. This is a favourable time for conscious growth and integrating new information to expand the walls of your perception. Examine your beliefs and world view; shed old ways of thinking that might not fit into your current reality anymore.

Capricorn: This eclipse cycle allows for transformation, the shedding of what is not essential anymore to discover what is lasting and true. Shared resources, but also deep psychological transformation and intimacy are part of the evaluation. There may be shifts in how to engage with others, when to invest and when to withdraw your energy.  

Aquarius: This eclipse cycle is important for your relationships with others; may it be personal or professional. Relationships that make sense and are solid and satisfying will be strengthened, while partnerships that have outlived their time may end or need to be transformed into a more equally satisfying version.  Feeling fulfilled and valued is important to everyone’s spiritual development.

Pisces: This eclipse cycle could seed new patterns in your everyday routines. Habits that feel depleting may need to go as there is momentum for establishing a new balance between mind, body and spirit. Enrich your daily life with creative activities that make you feel happy and fulfilled. It is also a good period for re-assessing your greater goals and making the necessary modifications.
