Communication Matters – a Mercurial Anecdote
My Mercury is placed in Taurus. I am a Gemini Sun, Moon and Venus person, so I easily get scattered. My Mercury is my safe haven, my anchor on planet earth. I admit, I have great ideas, and lots of them, but what shall I actually do with them? What is step one, step two and three? Yes, without pragmatic Mercury in Taurus I would be lost, forever running after some Gemini ideas that might or might not work.
My partner has his Mercury in Sagittarius, conjoined his Sun (also Sag) and opposite Moon/Uranus. He likes philosophical explorations. His Mercury can travel straight to the stars and back again without getting lost (Mars in Capricorn provides the GPS). His soul yearns for the high mental grounds. Nevertheless, after expansive explorations he goes about the business of climbing the next mountain step by step, and with persistence. My earthy Mercury finds his fiery brother at times overwhelming, because the latter likes to talk about simple themes in most elaborated ways. When my Taurus Mercury tries to follow, he often gets dizzy because his wings are much smaller, and not suited for the high airs.
My son pays a visit and his Mercury is in Capricorn, his Moon in Sagittarius. Over the years, he has worked out his special balance: he discusses philosophical matters with his Dad while he chooses more practical, simple subjects with me. His overall approach is serious and he likes to take the lead. Mercury in Capricorn demands respect for important exchange of information. Laughing at the wrong moment might be a problem. Attention to detail is asked while the matter has to be put in some kind of scientific framework. My Mercury in Taurus accepts, but not necessarily agrees with everything said.
When my neighbour drops by, I feel on familiar grounds. Her Mercury is in Taurus, too. She is a Taurus/Taurus rising soul with an Aquarian Moon. Her forte is organizing community projects especially in regards to land care and weed control. Yes, I am back on planet earth, safe and sound. I understand what she is talking about. I know those weeds;they grow in my garden as well! What shall we do about them, and when? The phone rings, my daughter makes a quick call on her mobile from distant Melbourne. She is in her lunch break. Her Mercury is in Gemini, the same sign as her Sun, square Moon/Jupiter and in opposition to Uranus. She can talk amazingly fast. In one minute she has managed to provide an articulated and brief account of the latest news. She is in a hurry. “Love you Mum!”
